Adorable Baby Finds at the Market

My little sister is pregnant at the moment and I find myself looking at all the adorable baby stuff you can get. She doesn't know what sex, though she claims it will be a girl, so I am looking for neutral baby stuff for my new niece/nephew. 

I love handmade clothes for babies and these booties are just so dainty. 

The white ones are so small they fit my thumb, perfect for a new born. The sunny yellow ones are for when the baby is a little bigger. 

Now I know that babies like to spend their time kicking booties off but I don't care, they are just too cute for the two seconds that they are in place.

The other fabulous find was this beautiful and delicate knit top. I know its a little on the girly side of the spectrum but with the right boy clothes I think it could work for either sex. 

It is perfect for Aussie weather as its light but still warm.  And one of the other great things, the price, $1 for the lot.

Off to the Markets

I am off to the Farmer's Market that are just down the road from my house tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to getting some fresh fruits and veg and hopefully picking up some bargains from the bric a brac sellers.

Key to Long Lasting Roses

I got these lovely shabby pink roses at the market this morning (closing half price special of $3.25).

While I often find there isn't much fragrance in the roses you buy in the shops but these have that evocative rose garden smell.

I follow a few easy steps to make my roses last as long as possible.

Step One - Start with a clean vase and clean water
Step Two - Change the water every 3 days
Step Three - Recut 1 inch from stems each time you change the water
Step Four - Add flower food each time you change the water
Step Five - Keep the roses in a cool place

Other Tips
- Ideally clean the vase with anti-bacterial soap or bleach
- Use the cleanest possible water you have available (distilled or rain water is the best)
- Remove any leaves that will be under the water

Why Clean and Change
Roses have tiny tubes to suck up the water and they will plug. This is why the vase and
water should be sterile to start with and the roses should be recut each time to reopen the tubes.
